From April 1st people going through the menopause in England will have access to prescriptions for HRT at a cheaper price by applying for something called a Payment Prescription Certificate.
If you currently pay a monthly prescription charge for two HRT items this could save you around £200 per year but how much you do save depends on your medication needs and the frequency of them.
As of 1st April 2023 people who have been prescribed HRT will be able to purchase the prescription named PPC (Prescription Payment Certificate) which lasts for 12 months and is the equivalent of two individual prescription charges at £19.30.
You can use your PPC for as many menopause related prescriptions as is needed within the 12 months and you can also re-apply for this for as many years as needed.
You can use your prescription certificate for unlimited HRT related items even including patches, tablets and gels.

Once your application has been approved you will be able to use it straight away after April 1st.
