We’re happy to share that a significant step has recently been made in recognising menopause as an important workplace issue. The new Employment Rights Bill now lists menopause alongside the gender pay gap meaning large employers (over 250 staff) will be required to publish Equality Actions Plans.
This move is designed to encourage employers to create supportive environments where menopause is openly discussed and practical measures like flexible working, quiet spaces and access to health support are put in place.
Why does this matter? Because research shows that almost 1 in 10 women leave their jobs due to unmanaged menopausal symptoms. By putting menopause into the heart of equality action planning, the hope is to reduce the number of women leaving the workplace and ensure more are supported to thrive at work.
