A group of MP’s are pushing the government to organise a pilot scheme to enable women to have ‘Menopause Leave’ if they are struggling with symptoms.
The pilot is hoped to be trialled with a public sector employer and publish an evaluation of the pilot within 12 months, the trial would also include a proposal for further rollout.
A report from the Women and Equalities Committee said symptoms – including difficulty sleeping, anxiety and memory problems – can have a “significant and sometimes debilitating impact” on women, and offering leave could help stop them feeling forced out of their jobs.
