What is the connection between aching joints and menopause?
Feeling achy, stiff and often sensing a burning feeling around the joints are typical symptoms of menopausal joint pain. These may often feel worse in the morning and improve as the day goes on. Whilst some pain can be localised to individual joints or a few joints, many women also describe a feeling of aching all over.
See below to learn what you can do to relieve joint stiffness
1
Strengthen muscles and joints:
While exercising is probably the last thing you want to do when your joints feel achy and sore, staying active is very important as it helps to increase the strength and flexibility of your joints and the muscle that surrounds them.
2
Increase your water intake:
If your joints are sore or creaky first thing then ease off as the day goes on, it may mean that you are dehydrated during the night, make sure you drink a glass of water before bed – this is really important if you are getting night sweats as these will dehydrate you further.
3
Eat more anti-inflammatory foods:
Your diet is very important when it comes to your joints as what you eat can impact how your joints feel. While some foods can trigger joint pain others can have a positive impact.
Reducing inflammation is a key part of reducing joint pain and improving overall joint health.
